The timber framed core of the house dates from the late sixteenth century, though it was encased in brick in the seventeenth century, and it retains an original priest hole and paneled rooms from that period. It is owned by the National Trust. The house and garden are open to the public on a ticketed, seasonal basis.
About Moseley Old Hall, Staffordshire
Moseley Old Hall was built as a timber-framed farmhouse in the late sixteenth century for a local gentry family. It became famous in 1651 when it sheltered King Charles II as he fled after the Battle of Worcester, hiding him in a priest hole. It exemplified the Royalist network that protected the future king during his escape.
