About Montepulciano
Montepulciano originated as an Etruscan hilltop settlement by the third century BCE, later developed into a fortified Roman and medieval town. It became a contested border town between Florence and Siena during the Middle Ages before coming under Florentine rule. The town flourished as a center of Renaissance architecture and of viticulture, producing Vino Nobile.
