About Mission San Francisco de los Julimes
Mission San Francisco de los Julimes was one of nine missions founded in the Big Bend borderlands in 1683 and 1684 by Father Nicolas López and Juan Domínguez de Mendoza. Franciscan missionaries maintained it to convert and instruct the Jumano, Julimes, and other Indigenous peoples nearby. It extended Spanish religious authority along the Rio Grande.
