About Lyons Methodist Church
Lyons Methodist Church was organized before 1880 at High Prairie, several miles away, under its first pastor, the Rev. John R. Dunn. The congregation relocated to Lyons after the railroad arrived and erected its current building in 1887. It became known as the oldest church building in regular use in the area.
