The estate preserves an Elizabethan house substantially remodeled in the eighteenth century with a Palladian facade by Giacomo Leoni, along with its surrounding formal gardens and a deer park. About Lyme Park, Cheshire
Lyme Park was built by the Legh family, who acquired the estate in the fourteenth century and erected a Tudor house there in the sixteenth century. The house was later remodeled by the Venetian architect Giacomo Leoni in the eighteenth century into a grand Palladian mansion. It served for centuries as the ancestral seat of the Legh family.
