About Longue-Pointe Battle Site / Ruisseau des Sœurs Area

Longue-Pointe was the scene of Ethan Allen's failed attempt to attack Montreal in September 1775. British forces and local defenders captured Allen during the encounter. The action belongs to the American invasion of Canada, while its exact relationship to historic streams and modern streets remains unresolved.

A nearby park and the relocated Allen-Picard house offer heritage references, but the house's present position is not its original parcel. No confirmed surviving stream segment or surveyed battlefield boundary was established in this review.

History happened here at Longue-Pointe Battle Site / Ruisseau des Sœurs Area

On September 25, 1775, Allen's small force encountered resistance near Montreal and was defeated. The capture removed a prominent American leader from the invasion campaign. Biographical evidence identifies defenders involved, while local research examines the waterways and land through which the encounter unfolded.

Longue-Pointe illustrates the limits of a small independent attack against a defended settlement. Modern remembrance combines a park, a moved house, and changing place names. Those elements should be interpreted as related heritage references until the original approach, fighting ground, and stream alignment can be matched more securely.
