About Lee W. Henslee
Lee W. Henslee, a native of Burleson County born in 1872, was named county sheriff in 1902, during an era when law and order faced frequent challenges. He rarely carried a gun, commanding respect through quiet persuasion, and his family lived in the county jail. He later served as county tax collector, beginning in 1916, until his death in 1927.
