Four Republican era Roman temple podiums and excavated remains associated with the Theater of Pompey survive below modern street level. The site is Italian state property managed by Rome's municipal archaeological authorities as a protected archaeological area. It can be viewed from the surrounding streets and, via a raised walkway, entered on a ticketed basis.
About Largo di Torre Argentina
The Largo di Torre Argentina preserves four Roman republican temples built between the third and first centuries BCE, among the oldest sacred structures surviving in Rome. The site also includes the remains of the Curia of Pompey, part of Pompey's theater complex, where Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BCE.
