HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Lanhydrock.

The house preserves its seventeenth-century granite gatehouse and long gallery with a plasterwork ceiling, while the rest of the mansion is a careful late Victorian rebuilding following an 1881 fire, set within formal and woodland gardens. It is owned and managed by the National Trust. The house and grounds are open to the public on a ticketed basis.

About Lanhydrock

Lanhydrock was built in the seventeenth century as the country house of the Robartes family, prominent Cornish landowners and politicians. Much of the house was rebuilt in the Victorian era after a fire in 1881 destroyed most of the original structure. It served for centuries as the seat of the Robartes estate.
