HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Landhuis Kenepa (Knip).

Landhuis Kenepa preserves the main plantation house structure along with some outbuildings, restored and maintained as a historic house rather than surviving purely in original unaltered fabric. It functions as a museum under Curaçao's heritage authorities in cooperation with a foundation dedicated to the site's history. It is open to the public as a ticketed museum.

About Landhuis Kenepa (Knip)

Landhuis Kenepa was built in the eighteenth century as the main house of a Dutch colonial plantation on Curaçao, worked by enslaved Africans. In 1795 it became the starting point of the island's largest slave revolt, led by Tula against colonial plantation owners. The uprising was suppressed, but it stood as a landmark act of resistance to slavery.
