HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

The park preserves the marble mausoleum holding the remains of Kwame Nkrumah and his wife, a bronze statue of Nkrumah, and an adjoining museum displaying memorabilia from his life and Ghana's independence movement, set within landscaped gardens on the site of the former polo grounds. It is managed by the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board. The park and museum are open to the public on a ticketed basis.

About Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park

Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park was built in Accra on the site where Kwame Nkrumah declared Ghana's independence in 1957, becoming the country's first president. It was completed in 1992 as a mausoleum and museum housing his remains and commemorating his leadership of Ghana's independence movement. It became a national symbol of the anti-colonial struggle.
