Public toilets are located off Red Square between the State Historical Museum and the Kremlin wall, near the Alexander Garden exit; use them before joining the secured mausoleum/necropolis route.
Confirm current Red Square and necropolis access with the Kremlin Commandant before travel. The Moscow Kremlin Museums state that Lenin’s Mausoleum is administered separately; museum hours do not establish access to Stalin’s grave.
Current access to the necropolis is unverified; confirm official arrangements before choosing a date.

About Kremlin Wall Necropolis
Joseph Stalin’s grave is among the memorial burials in the Kremlin Wall Necropolis beside Lenin’s Mausoleum on Red Square.
The necropolis is part of the internationally recognized Kremlin and Red Square heritage setting. Its graves and memorials are separate from the Moscow Kremlin Museums’ collections and ticketed routes.
History happened here at Kremlin Wall Necropolis
The necropolis began with mass graves of people killed during the October 1917 fighting in Moscow. Later burials and cremation urns commemorated Soviet political, military and cultural figures.
Stalin died in 1953. His body was first placed in Lenin’s Mausoleum and was transferred to a grave by the Kremlin wall in 1961.
