The hall survives as a partly roofed, partly ruined Elizabethan and Jacobean mansion, with its ornate stone facades, courtyard, and formal gardens preserved while much of the interior stands open to the sky. It is in the care of English Heritage as a scheduled monument. It is open to the public on a ticketed, seasonal basis.
About Kirby Hall, Northamptonshire
Sir Humphrey Stafford began building Kirby Hall in Northamptonshire around 1570 as a grand Elizabethan country house. Sir Christopher Hatton, a favorite of Queen Elizabeth I, purchased the unfinished mansion soon after and completed it with elaborate classical ornament. The house exemplified the prodigy houses built by Elizabethan courtiers to display wealth.
