HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Kenchreai.

The site preserves the submerged and partially exposed remains of the ancient port of Corinth, including harbor moles, warehouse foundations, and traces of an apsidal hall with fragments of opus sectile paneling. It is under the protection of the Greek Ministry of Culture through the local ephorate of antiquities. The ruins lie in open ground along the shore and are freely accessible.

About Kenchreai

Kenchreai served as the eastern harbor of ancient Corinth on the Saronic Gulf, developing from the Archaic period into a major Corinthian trading port. It handled trade with the eastern Mediterranean and housed a sanctuary of Isis. The port appears in the New Testament as the home of Phoebe and a departure point for the apostle Paul.
