About Isham Davis Home

Built in 1848 near Iola, Texas, the Isham Davis Home was a log house of hand-hewn cedar construction. It remained in the family of Isham D. Davis for 115 years. His wife Martha was a daughter of Mathew Caldwell, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. It represented early Anglo settlement of the Texas frontier.

Built 1848. Has hand-hewn cedar in log foundation, ceilings and beams. For 115 years in family of Isham D. Davis, whose wife, Martha, was a daughter of Mathew Caldwell, one of the signers of Texas Declaration of Independence.
