Public access is generally limited to occasional excavated fragments and museum displays rather than a dedicated open site.
About Ilerda (Lleida)
Ilerda was an Iberian settlement of the Ilergetes people before becoming a Roman town following the conquest of Hispania. In 49 BCE, Julius Caesar defeated the Pompeian generals Afranius and Petreius near Ilerda in a decisive campaign of the Roman civil war. The town grew into a Roman administrative and military center on the route to Hispania.
