About Horologium Augusti (Sundial of Augustus), Rome
Augustus established a monumental sundial in the Campus Martius in 10 BCE, using an Egyptian obelisk as its gnomon.
The original layout is fragmentary; the obelisk stands in Piazza Montecitorio and parts of the pavement have been found beneath modern Rome.
