Haddon Hall survives as a largely intact medieval and Tudor manor house, including its great hall, long gallery, chapel with medieval wall paintings, and terraced courtyards, with little later alteration to its original fabric. It is owned by the Manners family, the Dukes of Rutland, and is a Grade I listed building. The hall is open to the public on a seasonal, ticketed basis.

Haddon Hall began as a fortified manor in Derbyshire, its oldest parts dating from the twelfth century under the Vernon family. It passed by marriage to the Manners family, later Dukes of Rutland, in the sixteenth century, though the popular elopement story tied to that marriage is legendary. The hall served for centuries as an aristocratic residence.
