About Grey Mule Saloon
The Grey Mule Saloon was built in the 1880s near Old Fort Stockton as a gathering place for cowboys and hotel guests in the frontier town. It later served as a general store and post office. The building reflects the changing commercial life of a West Texas town founded around a military post.
