HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Giardino di Boboli (Boboli Gardens).
The Boboli Gardens preserve their sixteenth century Italian formal layout, including the amphitheater, the Grotta del Buontalenti, and numerous fountains and statues, largely as originally laid out for the Medici. The gardens belong to the Italian state, forming part of the Uffizi Galleries museum complex alongside the neighboring Pitti Palace, within the historic center of Florence World Heritage Site. They are open to the public on a ticketed basis.
About Giardino di Boboli (Boboli Gardens)
The Boboli Gardens were laid out beginning in the 1550s behind the Palazzo Pitti for the Medici family, developed initially by the architect Niccolo Tribolo and later designers. They became a model of the Italian Renaissance garden, featuring grottoes, fountains, and sculpture used for court festivities. The gardens later served the palace's Habsburg-Lorraine and Savoy rulers.
