About George Washington Petty
George Washington Petty was born in Tennessee on April 7, 1812, and later settled in Texas. He served in the Texas army and fought in the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836, which secured Texas independence from Mexico. He died on July 27, 1901, and was buried in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.
