HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Geevor Tin Mine.

The site preserves its nineteenth and twentieth century mine buildings, processing mill with much of its original machinery, headframes, and sections of underground workings opened for tours, forming part of a working landscape rather than a reconstruction. It lies within the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site and is run by the Pendeen Community Heritage trust. The site is open to the public on a ticketed basis, with underground sections accessible only by guided tour.

About Geevor Tin Mine

Mining companies developed Geevor as a tin mine in Cornwall in the nineteenth century, consolidating older workings along a rich tin and copper lode near Pendeen. It grew into one of the largest tin mines in Cornwall during the twentieth century, employing generations of local miners. Geevor operated until the collapse of world tin prices closed it in 1990.
