About Galleria di Palazzo Reale
Genoese architects built this palace in the seventeenth century for the Balbi family, a leading merchant banking dynasty. The Durazzo family later acquired the residence before it passed to the House of Savoy in the nineteenth century and became a royal palace. Its state rooms and picture gallery reflect the patronage of Genoa's aristocracy and the Savoy monarchy.
