About Galaxidi Historic Town
This coastal town in Phocis has been identified with the ancient port of Chaleion, mentioned by ancient Greek writers in the classical period. Its harbor gave it a role in local Mediterranean trade near the sanctuary of Delphi. In later centuries the town revived as a prosperous center of shipbuilding and maritime trade under Ottoman rule.
