HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Fort Massac State Park.

Fort Massac State Park protects the historic bluff and archaeological remains of successive French and American fortifications. A modern reconstruction based on the later American fort, museum displays, monuments, trails, and park grounds interpret the site rather than preserving an intact Revolutionary-era structure.

About Fort Massac State Park

George Rogers Clark and his small frontier army landed at this abandoned French fort site on the Ohio River in 1778 before marching overland to their surprise capture of Kaskaskia during the Illinois campaign.
