Fort La Latte preserves a medieval fortress with two towers, a keep, drawbridges, and curtain walls, restored in the early twentieth century after a long period of ruin. It remains in private ownership as a listed historic monument. The fort is open to the public on a ticketed basis, including guided access to its towers.
About Fort La Latte
Fort La Latte was built in the fourteenth century by the Goyon-Matignon family as a coastal fortress overlooking the English Channel near Cape Fréhel. It was designed to defend the approaches to Saint-Malo and control local shipping lanes along the Brittany coast. The castle changed hands several times amid regional conflicts.
