About Former Bank Building of Giddings & Giddings
Lawyer-brothers J. D. and D. C. Giddings founded Brenham's first bank in 1866, and this building was erected in 1872 to house it. Brenham Chapter No. 5 of the Royal Arch Masons owned the building's third floor, sharing the structure with the banking operation below. The Giddings and Giddings bank continued in the building until it closed in 1945.
