About Failaka Island Archaeological Site
Failaka Island was settled in the Bronze Age, around the early second millennium BCE, as an outpost of the Dilmun civilization linked to trade networks across the Persian Gulf. Archaeological remains include temples and dwellings tied to this early trading culture. Centuries later the island hosted a Hellenistic settlement, named Ikaros, founded under the successors of Alexander the Great.
