The Federal-style dwelling retains original architectural fabric, period rooms, furnishings, exhibits, and landscaped grounds, with tours and educational programs interpreting Augusta’s early commercial and domestic history.

This Federal-style home overlooks the site of British-held Fort Cornwallis, which fell to Patriot forces under Light-Horse Harry Lee and 'Light Horse' Harry after a siege during the 1781 Siege of Augusta. The surviving place or marker keeps this historical association visible within its community.
