HISTORIC PRESERVATION at End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center.
The center occupies modern reconstructed buildings shaped like covered wagons, built to house exhibits and artifacts related to the Oregon Trail's terminus rather than any original pioneer era structure. It is operated by a local nonprofit organization in Oregon City, on a site associated with the trail's end. The center is open to the public on a ticketed basis.
About End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center
Thousands of American pioneers ended their overland journey on the Oregon Trail at Abernethy Green in Oregon City during the 1840s and 1850s. Many then claimed farmland in the Willamette Valley under the Donation Land Claim Act. The site marked the trail's terminus and Oregon City's status as the first incorporated city west of the Rockies.
