The rebuilt cottage, memorial halls, and gardens are preserved as the Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum, a ticketed national heritage site in western Chengdu.
About Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Chengdu
The Tang poet Du Fu built a thatched cottage beside the Huanhua Stream in Chengdu in 760 after fleeing the An Lushan Rebellion, and wrote more than 240 poems there. Later dynasties rebuilt the site as a shrine to his memory. The present halls and gardens date largely from Ming and Qing restorations.
