HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Dodona (Oracle of Zeus).

The site preserves the remains of the sanctuary of Zeus, most notably a partially restored stone theater along with foundations of temples and a stadium, with some elements reassembled rather than original standing fabric. It is under Greek state ownership and managed by the Ministry of Culture. The archaeological site is open to the public for ticketed visits.

About Dodona (Oracle of Zeus)

Dodona was the site of an oracle of Zeus, among the oldest and most revered in the Greek world, active from at least the early first millennium BCE. Priests and priestesses interpreted the rustling of a sacred oak tree to deliver the god's pronouncements to worshippers. The sanctuary rivaled Delphi and later acquired a large theater for religious festivals.
