HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Dimini & Sesklo Neolithic Settlements.

The site preserves excavated Neolithic settlement remains, including stone and mudbrick house foundations, defensive ditches, and megaron-type structures at both Dimini and Sesklo, with visible foundations rather than standing walls above modest height. The sites are managed by the Greek Ministry of Culture through the local ephorate of antiquities. Both locations are open to the public as archaeological parks with associated finds displayed in nearby museums.

About Dimini & Sesklo Neolithic Settlements

Sesklo, occupied from around 6800 BCE, was one of the earliest farming villages in Neolithic Europe, giving its name to the Sesklo culture. Nearby Dimini flourished later in the Neolithic as a fortified settlement with concentric walls around a central megaron-like building. Together the two sites traced the rise of settled farming in Greece.
