HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Derrynane House.

The house preserves much of its eighteenth and nineteenth century fabric along with furnishings, portraits, and personal items associated with Daniel O'Connell, and stands within its historic demesne of gardens, woodland, and coastline. It is owned by the Irish state and managed by the Office of Public Works as a national historic park. The house operates as a ticketed museum, while the surrounding grounds are freely open to visitors.

About Derrynane House

Derrynane House was the ancestral seat of the O'Connell family, established in County Kerry in the eighteenth century. It was the childhood home of Daniel O'Connell, the Irish political leader who led the campaign for Catholic Emancipation, achieved in 1829. The house served as his residence and retreat throughout his career as a lawyer and nationalist statesman.
