About Denison (Katy Railroad Founding)
Founded in 1872 as the first Texas terminus of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (Katy) Railroad at a Red River crossing, Denison quickly became a major cattle-shipping point that redirected trail-driving traffic toward the railroad, hastening the end of the great overland cattle drives of the Chisholm and other trails.
