The site preserves a pre-Inca stone aqueduct cut through volcanic bedrock, along with nearby petroglyphs and a formation of eroded rock pillars known as the Bosque de Piedras. It is managed by Peru's Ministry of Culture as a protected archaeological and natural site. The area is open to the public on a ticketed basis, typically visited on foot or by guided tour.

Cumbe Mayo's carved stone aqueduct, cut through volcanic rock around the first millennium BCE, diverted water across a mountain divide for early Andean highland communities.
