The Tudor granite manor house survives largely unaltered, with its original courtyards, chapel, great hall, and an outstanding collection of tapestries, armor, and furniture retained inside, along with its terraced gardens and a restored quay and mill on the estate. It is owned and managed by the National Trust and is a Grade I listed building. The house and grounds are open to the public on a ticketed basis.
About Cotehele
Cotehele is a late medieval manor house built mainly between the 1480s and 1520s by the Edgcumbe family on the banks of the River Tamar. It served as the family's principal seat before they moved to a grander house at Mount Edgcumbe in the sixteenth century. Its great hall and chapel reflected the domestic life of a Tudor household.
