HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Colonel James Barrett House.
The original eighteenth-century Barrett farmhouse survives within Minute Man National Historical Park. The National Park Service preserves restored rooms, architectural fabric, archaeological resources, outbuildings, fields, orchard, and surrounding farm landscape, with public access and interpretation provided according to current park operations.

On April 19, 1775, British regulars searched Colonel James Barrett’s farm for artillery and military supplies gathered by Massachusetts Patriots. Barrett’s family and neighbors had concealed much of the matériel, though the soldiers found and burned several gun carriages. The search helped draw the British expedition beyond Concord’s North Bridge, where fighting marked the opening of the Revolutionary War.
