About Cillium (Kasserine) Roman Ruins & Mausoleum

Cillium was a Roman town in Africa Proconsularis that flourished from the first to the third century CE within the region's olive-growing economy. Its notable Mausoleum of the Flavii was a tall funerary tower built for a local family, inscribed with one of the longest surviving Latin verse epitaphs. The town exemplified the prosperity of Roman North Africa's provincial elite.
