The campus preserves its original mid twentieth century modernist buildings largely intact, including the Central Library with Juan O'Gorman's mosaic murals covering all four facades, the Rectory Tower with murals by David Alfaro Siqueiros, and the Olympic Stadium. It is owned and managed by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and is a World Heritage Site. The campus is freely accessible as a working university, with the murals viewable from public areas.

About Central University City Campus, UNAM

The Central University City campus was built in the early 1950s to consolidate the National Autonomous University of Mexico's faculties on one site. Designed by a team of architects, it incorporated large murals by artists such as Juan O'Gorman, whose mosaic covers the Central Library. It became a landmark of modern Mexican architecture, blending Functionalist design with monumental public art.
