The castle preserves its towers, courtyards, chapel, and formal gardens largely as remodeled in the Baroque period, with furnished state rooms surviving from later Savoy ownership. It is a state museum administered by the Italian Ministry of Culture and forms part of the Residences of the Royal House of Savoy World Heritage Site. The interior is open to the public on a ticketed, guided-tour basis, with the gardens more freely accessible.
About Castello Ducale d'Agliè
The castle originated in the twelfth century as a stronghold of the San Martino counts of Agliè. In the late seventeenth century it was rebuilt in Baroque style for a courtier of the House of Savoy and later became a Savoy residence. It formed part of the network of country residences maintained by the Savoy court in Piedmont.
