Casa Blanca was the working rancho and farmstead of Erasmo Seguin, a prominent Tejano statesman and father of Juan Seguin, located on the Guadalupe River near the settlement later named Seguin in his family's honor. Functionally, the property served as a self-sufficient ranching and agricultural operation, raising livestock and crops in the fertile river bottomland typical of early Texas rancho economy, and it anchored Seguin family landholdings in the region for decades. Beyond agriculture, Casa Blanca functioned as a waypoint and hospitality stop along regional travel routes; Erasmo Seguin was known for hosting notable travelers passing through the area, including Stephen F. Austin during his early colonization efforts and an aide to the Marquis de Lafayette, reflecting the homestead's role as an informal outpost of civic and diplomatic hospitality on the Texas frontier. As a Tejano-operated rancho, it also represented the continuation of Spanish and Mexican-era ranching traditions into the Anglo-American colonization period. The main house itself no longer stands, having deteriorated and been lost over the twentieth century, but the site's function is preserved through public memory rather than active use. Today the location is commemorated by historical markers placed near its original site, used for interpretive and educational purposes rather than any ranching or residential function, helping visitors understand the site's historic role in early Guadalupe County settlement and Tejano ranching heritage.
