About Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery
Carrowmore is a cemetery of Neolithic passage tombs and dolmens built by early farming communities from around the fourth millennium BCE. It contains dozens of megalithic monuments, among the densest concentrations of such tombs in Ireland, arranged around a cairn. The site formed the ritual and burial heart of a wider Neolithic landscape near Knocknarea.
