HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Campo del Moro Gardens.

The gardens preserve their nineteenth century English-style landscaping, with tree-lined avenues, ornamental fountains including the Fountain of the Shells and the Fountain of the Tritons, and views of the Royal Palace above. They are administered by Patrimonio Nacional, the Spanish state body responsible for royal heritage sites. The gardens are open to the public, generally free of charge.

About Campo del Moro Gardens

The Campo del Moro Gardens were laid out beside the Royal Palace of Madrid in the nineteenth century, in an English landscape style with fountains, sculpture, and mature trees. They served as private grounds for the Spanish royal family, offering a secluded retreat facing the Manzanares River. The gardens complemented the palace as a setting for royal leisure and ceremony.
