HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Black Creek Pioneer Village.
Black Creek Pioneer Village consists of relocated and reconstructed nineteenth century buildings, including houses, mills, a church, and workshops, gathered from various Ontario locations rather than surviving in situ, together with period furnishings and farm animals. It is owned and operated by Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. The village is open to the public on a ticketed, seasonal basis with costumed interpretation.
About Black Creek Pioneer Village
Black Creek Pioneer Village is an open-air museum established in 1960 near Toronto, assembling historic buildings relocated from across Ontario. It recreates a nineteenth-century rural community, including a working mill, general store, and farmhouses furnished to the period. The village was created to interpret pioneer life in Ontario before Canadian Confederation.
