HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Belfast City Hall.

Belfast City Hall preserves its Edwardian Baroque exterior of Portland stone, its central copper dome, and an ornate interior of marble staircases, stained glass, and function rooms, all largely intact. It is owned and managed by Belfast City Council as its civic headquarters. The building and its surrounding grounds are open to the public, with the interior accessible through guided tours.

About Belfast City Hall

Belfast City Hall was built between 1898 and 1906 to a design by architect Alfred Brumwell Thomas, commemorating Belfast's elevation to city status in 1888. It served as the seat of the city's municipal government and hosted the signing of the Ulster Covenant in 1912. The building became a symbol of Belfast's industrial prosperity and civic identity.
