The battlefield is included on Historic England's Register of Historic Battlefields but has no single site manager, with the surrounding land remaining in private agricultural and residential use. It lies in open countryside and is freely accessible along public roads and footpaths.
About Battle of Ludford Bridge Site, Shropshire
Ludford Bridge was the site of a 1459 confrontation between Yorkist forces under the Duke of York and a larger Lancastrian royal army during the Wars of the Roses. Facing desertions, the Yorkist leaders abandoned their position overnight in what became known as the Rout of Ludford. The collapse forced York and his allies into temporary exile.
