HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Baiae.

The site preserves extensive ruins of Roman bath complexes, terraced structures, and a nymphaeum, with substantial portions of the ancient resort submerged and visible within an underwater archaeological park offshore. It is managed by Italy's Ministry of Culture as part of the Parco Archeologico dei Campi Flegrei. The onshore ruins are open to the public on a ticketed basis, while the submerged area is accessible chiefly by boat tour and diving.

About Baiae

Baiae developed during the late Roman Republic as a fashionable resort on the Bay of Naples, prized for its volcanic hot springs and mild climate. Wealthy senators and emperors built luxurious villas there, and the town became notorious among Roman writers for its leisure and indulgence. It exemplified elite Roman villa culture and coastal recreation.
