HISTORIC PRESERVATION at Bahá'í Gardens & Shrine of the Báb.

The site preserves the golden domed Shrine of the Báb and its terraced gardens rising up Mount Carmel, along with surrounding administrative buildings of the Bahá'í Faith. It is owned and administered by the Bahá'í World Centre under the Universal House of Justice, and is part of the Bahá'í Holy Places in Haifa and Western Galilee World Heritage Site. The gardens are freely accessible to visitors, while the shrine's interior is open only on limited occasions.

About Bahá'í Gardens & Shrine of the Báb

The Shrine of the Báb was built on Mount Carmel in Haifa to house the remains of the Báb, herald of the Bahá'í Faith, who was executed in Persia in 1850. Its golden-domed shrine and terraced gardens were developed by the Bahá'í community through the twentieth century. The site became the spiritual and administrative center of the Bahá'í Faith.
