About Asolo Historic Town
Asolo originated as a pre-Roman Venetic settlement before becoming a Roman municipality known as Acelum. In the Middle Ages it became a fortified hill town, and in the late fifteenth century served as the court of Caterina Cornaro, the exiled Queen of Cyprus. The town later attracted writers and artists as a center of refined court culture.
